The work critiques without a doubt the modern civilized world, excessively industrialized, which dissolves our identity and brings about our self-destruction every day. The intention is to bring us close to the primitive, expressing a rejection of modern civilization, and manifesting a desire to go back to that pre-industrial world, where there was a more intimate relationship with nature.
What seems like a human head, is disfigured with illusory images or irrational ones, with dehumanizing elements, acquiring an “astral form”, not divine, but previous to industrial civilization and reminding us of those ancient and primitive humans.
In this world that I attempt to create, a primitive and symbolic world, these elements represent for me everything that is spiritual, in clear opposition to the material objects of modern life that currently surround us and that we utilize.
For me the real world is the world beyond appearances. Behind the veil of illusion, appears the truth, but in the meantime we will continue our days in this fluctuating world, transitory and impermanent. That essence which is hidden to us, but on which our existence depends, is the very appreciation of the different components that make up our lives.
The transcendence of the spiritual captured in my work, in the floating sensation of these faces, in the detachment of a body that connects to the earth- in other words, with the idea of the materialist superficiality of the world in which we live, from that separation, reappear those primitive feelings that take us beyond the mask of illusion which covers us continuously.
To highlight that dreamlike sense of the supernatural in the subject of this work remains an interest for the subjective, the irrational. The mere appearance of the object is not what remains, but through it the supernatural is reached, which is connected to a special interest in the spiritual. In my paintings I don’t attempt to express the external world, but that of dreams and fantasies through allusions to symbols.
Painting is the mode to express my state of mind, emotions and ideas, as an individual, through the symbol or idea.
